Preventive consultation hours
Capability, the occupational health service of attention & action
Not sick but still want to consult with an (occupational) physician? That’s possible during the preventive consultation. During this consultation, you can, either on your own initiative or at the suggestion of your employer, speak with the (occupational) physician. You can ask health-related questions to prevent complaints and absenteeism.
A healthy work environment
In the Netherlands, it is legally required that both employers and employees make efforts to create a healthy and safe working environment. Part of this includes the employer providing a preventive consultation and informing employees about it. As an employee, you have the right to visit this consultation on your own initiative for health-related questions that are connected to your work.
This is what is expected of you as an employee
Actively monitor your own health and vitality. To prevent and/or address physical or mental health issues, it can be helpful to speak with an (occupational) physician during a preventive consultation. This helps prevent further complaints and absenteeism.
The organisation
Your employer must inform everyone within the organisation about the policy and how colleagues can participate in the preventive consultation. A supervisor may advise you to have a conversation with the occupational physician during this consultation. As an employee, you are responsible for scheduling the appointment for the consultation.
